Our last piece for the year is a carol called My Dreydl. Try and learn the notes and fingering at home to save time during band lessons.

First and Second time endings explained.

If you look at the music for Jingle Bells you will notice it has two different endings at the end of the music.

The FIRST TIME you play through the song you use the FIRST TIME ENDING, then repeat back to the start.

The SECOND time you play the song you JUMP OVER the first time ending bars and play the SECOND TIME ENDING

The reason why we use this technique was originally so the composer did not have to hand write the music a second time, it seems silly to write the same thing twice!
